AEW is going all out for the June 3 episode of Dynamite, as it will build towards the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. That’s why the company has booked a memorable lineup with big matches to keep fans engaged from start to finish. Tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite features appearances from MJF and more, so it’s definitely something fans shouldn’t miss. AEW Dynamite will be airing at 8 PM ET on TBS as well as streaming on MAX. The show will take place at the Siegel Center in Richmond, Virginia.
AEW World Champion MJF faces one of his toughest challenges yet when he defends the title against RUSH. RUSH confronted MJF last week and wasted no time demanding a championship opportunity. So it remains to be seen whether the Salt of the Earth will manage to survive El Toro Blanco. The TNT Championship will also be on the line as Kevin Knight defends against Speedball Mike Bailey. Knight attacked Bailey last week on Dynamite and this led to Bailey calling him out for a match. So now we will have ot see whether Bailey can get revenge and beat his former partner once and for all.
Will Ospreay squares off against Mark Davis in the semifinals of the Owen Hart Cup tournament. On the women’s side, the Quarterfinals will see Alex Windsor squaring off against a wild card entrant. So we’ll have to see who will advance in their respective matches. Tommaso Ciampa will explain his attack on Chris Jericho, especially after mocking Jericho’s iconic Master of 1004 holds promo. The Dogs will also address their vicious assault on Adam Copeland & Christian Cage last week on Dynamite. Speaking of tag titles, TayJay confronted Divine Dominion on the Buy In for AEW Double or Nothing to target the tag titles. They did not follow through on that yet, so hopefully they do so this week. Overall, the women’s division has lacked sufficient storyline direction due to injuries, hiatuses, and absentee management. While MJF has title opponents lined up like ducks in a row, Thekla is sitting backstage like a silly goose and merely waiting for the Owen Hart Winner without anything important to do in the interim.
Unlike Thekla, Konosuke Takeshita is a champion in the mid-card who actually has a storyline going for him with the returning Kyle Fletcher of the Don Callis Family. After getting kicked out of the family by Fletcher and Okada, Takeshita cunningly recruited Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, and The Undisputed Era of The Conglomeration to even the numbers game. Since all men have common enemies in the Don Callis Family, this also sets up a future trios title match down the line, killing “three birds” with one stone. This week on AEW Dynamite, there are four matches scheduled: MJF (c) vs. RUSH for the AEW World Title, Kevin Knight (c) vs. Speedball Mike Bailey for the TNT Title, Will Ospreay vs. Mark Davis in the Owen Hart Semifinals, and Alex Windsor vs. Wild Card in the Owen Hart Quarterfinals.
