Roman Reigns will put his WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Jacob Fatu. Fatu has shown the Tribal Chief he’s more than determined to dethrone Reigns, even going so far as to use the Tongan Death Grip. The match is expected to be a hard-hitting one, so we’ll have to see who will win in the end. Trick Williams will defend his WWE United States Championship against Sami Zayn. Zayn dropped the title to Williams at WrestleMania 42 but Zayn will stop at nothing to get it back. So it remains to be seen whether Zayn will reclaim his title once and for all. Seth Rollins will go one-on-one against Bron Breakker at Backlash. This comes after Breakker returned at WrestleMania 42 and attacked Rollins, costing him his match against GUNTHER. There’s plenty of history and bad blood between the two, so fans are waiting to see who will walk away as the winner when the dust settles.

IYO SKY will square off against Asuka in singles action, and this match is a long time coming. After several months of bitterness, it will all come to a head at Backlash. Finally, Danhausen and a mystery partner will team up to square off against The Miz and Kit Wilson in tag team action.

Asuka has fully embraced her deepest, darkest sides, and the chains will be off once they find themselves in the ring in Tampa. It’s not at all a stretch to say that IYO SKY and Asuka are two of the best to do it, and even a standard match would be a Match of the Year candidate. That said, this match isn’t just any other match; it’s rooted in hate and broken promises, and they can finally settle on May 9th, 2026, at Backlash. At WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns finally reclaimed the keys to his kingdom, defeating CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion. As anyone would expect, Reigns was riding high on the Raw after WrestleMania. That is, until his own blood would try to take away his prized possession once again.

Considered the proverbial Black Sheep, Jacob Fatu is stepping up to the plate, barely breaking a sweat when informing Roman Reigns that he doesn’t want the World Heavyweight Championship. Still, he needs it since it provides everything he wants. To put it mildly, while Reigns recognized Fatu’s potential, Roman thinks he’s not ready yet. Jacob Fatu took exception to this, even getting nose-to-nose with his family in the form of The Usos and Solo Sikoa, with the latter getting his butt handed to him on the SmackDown after ‘Mania 42. Fatu believes that people have been keeping him down long enough, and he has zero fear when it comes to becoming the top champion in WWE< even if it means going through the franchise player and his own flesh and blood, Roman Reigns. Fatu asserted his dominance when Reigns accepted the challenge at Backlash. Jacob would lock in a move so sacred to their clan, the Tongan Death Grip, that even The Usos thought he crossed the line. In peak form, Roman Reigns is virtually unstoppable, but the thing is, Jacob Fatu’s willingness to push the “OTC” with no hesitation makes everyone think he can do the unthinkable.
